Each state and county holds different regulations. Please make sure you call your local health department before signing up for the training because that is who regulates Body Art Tattoo Artists.

You are requested to have your BBP (Blood Borne Pathogens) Certificates and/or up to date and valid in your state and county you will be working in. YOU MUST BRING THIS CERTIFICATE TO YOUR TRAINING.

This is something you will for sure want to do your homework on before signing up. To offer a tattooing service, most facilities will be required to have a health inspection with a license from your health department. This is a common asked question at the time of training. Sometimes finding the right place takes time, so having a game plan set and your research done before hand helps when you are done with your training to get started on your exciting new career.

The Academy creates resources and training for self-taught artists looking for either a starting point in their career or assistance refining the skills they already have.

Tattooing and artistry go hand in hand. To say one doesn't need to be artistic would be very misleading.

HOWEVER, the art of Tiny/Fine Line Tattoos allows you to focus on line work and technicality rather than artistry. Without strong artistry skills, you will be limiting yourself to tiny tattoos only and should yourself ethically in that space.

Most of the time health departments are who regulate Body Artists. If you are not going into an already established facility, I would recommend also contacting your city to know their city laws on being a body artist in the city you will be working. If your state is regulated by licensing and/or apprenticeship hours it is VERY important you know this before signing up for this training.

Most states will require you to have a tattoo permit and work in a permitted facility. It is very important and crucial to follow the regulations of your state and county.

The Academy is a community dedicated to like-minded individuals navigating the world of Tiny/Fine Line Tattoos. Our resources and tools are in no way to create a "master" or to replace other forms of learning. Choosing to start your tattoo career as a self-taught artist doesn't have to feel like a dead end and having a community that's learning side by side with you allows you to continue to learn with every tattoo.

This is not the only way to obtain a tattoo license. There are many different avenues to becoming a tattoo artist and for some, this is a perfect direction. One size does not fit all, and either direction does training. Do your research on what suits YOU best. I will be here to support you in any way I can.
